Search the Database and Load a Compound

From this screen we can search for a compound by its name (Common, Chemical Abstracts, IUPAC or Synonym, notice the Search Name Types Check Boxes). We will search by empirical formula, utilizing the "wild card" capability.

To do that we must select the "Within" box indicating that we wish to look for "like" formulas. The formula H*Si* will search for all compounds containing 1 or more silicon, 1 or more hydrogen (thus the significance of the * wildcard), and any other atoms, the order makes no difference. Another option is to exter the exact empirical formula for the compound, such as CH3Cl3Si.

To select a compound, highlight it and press the "Load Compound" Button. Once the compound is selected, (even before it is loaded) other options will be highlighted, such as Show System/User DB Props of the properties in the database for the selected compound. This will include system database properties as well as the user entered properties that is editable. Other option include Show All Point Props and Show Temp Corr Props. These options show all Point Properties and Temperature Correlated Properties and cannot can not be edited by the User.

Selecting (clicking on it) one of the coumpounds found in the database, shows its other names as well and enables the Load Button. Pressing this loads the compound. You know the compound has been loaded when you see this pop-up.

Simply press return to go back to the opening screen and select the Calculate Properties Button.
